Koh Samet is one of the most beautiful islands of Thailand. It’s situated in the Guld of Thailand in 85 km from Pattaya – popular touristic centre. You can get to the island by booking one of the local tour excursion or yourself. In both cases route will consist from two part: trip by land (by bus or taxi) or by water (by ferry or by cutter).

Booking excursion
The easiest way for travelers is to buy excursion in one of the touristic agencies in Pattaya. In this case bus or car will take tourists early in the morning from the hotel and get to the dock Ban Phe in province Rayong, where you should transfer to cutter or ferry boat.
Water transport arrives to one of the three beaches of island: Wong Duan, Ao Nuan or Ao Phrao. In depends on the program, but the price of such kind of excursion could be from 300 to 2500 baht. As Koh Samet is national park, you will need to pay extra money, when you get there, about 200 baht. Usually excursion will take you the whole day.
Bus
Besides excursion, you can get to Koh Samet yourself. At first you should get to the dock Ban Phe. The cheapest way of travelling is bus, that goes from Bangkok through Pattaya. You can get into the bus on the stop, that is situated on the crossroads of highway Sukhumvit Road with South St (you should go forward along 100-150 metres).
You can get in one hour by bus to Rayong, ticket costs 70 baht. Then you should transfer into songteo, to get to the dock, it costs 30 baht. The other way to get to dock is hired taxi. You can book it by phone or on the reception in your hotel. It will cost about 600-1000 baht and it will take about 1-2 hour.
The price of trip by water from dock Ban Phe to Koh Samet depends on the type of vehicle. The cheapest way is trip by ferry boat, it goes from 8 am to 4:30 pm about once in 1-2 hour (it goes from island to continent from 6 am to 5 pm). Ferry boat arrives to one of three beaches of Koh Samet, it depends on the route, but it will take about 25-45 minute. If you want to get to the island faster, you should use cutter, but it will be more expensive.
But they go early in the morning or late at night. It will take about 20 minute and the ticket will cost about 100-300 baht, it depends on the last stop. There are offices to buy ticket for ferry boat or cutter right at the dock Ban Phe and work 24 h. The quickest way to get to the island is hired speedboat. It will overpass the whole distance in 10 minute. For such economy of time and comfort, you will need to pay about 1000-2000 baht.
Personal transfer
The most comfortable way to get to Samet is personal transfer. There are few companies in Pattaya, which offer such kind of service, the most popular among them is 35 Group Pattaya. There is office of this company on the crossroad of the 3d St and South St.
In general transfer from Pattaya to Samet will take 250 baht, it includes trip by continent by minivan and the ticket for ferry boat. Minibuses depart from Pattaya in 7 and 9 am and takes tourists from the hotel for free. The trip to Rayong will take you about 1-1.5 hour.
Then the driver will give travelers their tickets for ferry boat and show where you should get into the vehicle. Ferry boat arrives to the beach Wong Duan, the trip will take you about 45 minute. You can book back transfer to Pattaya at once, then the driver will give tourists back tickets and tell when minibus will take them, it’s important to be in time on the stop to get to continent.
