Transfer from Munich to Mayrhofen

Mayrhofen is pretty famous ski resort in Austria that is situated in the Zillertal valley. The nearest international airport to this resort is in Munich, where arrive the big part of flights. Then if you want to reach this famous resort, you should overpass about 180 km. You can book transfer from Munich to Mayrhofen from the airport or you can use other ways to get there.

The train

The cheapest way to get to Mayrhofen is the trip by public transport, in particular train. But you will have to do few transfers. At first you should get from the airport Flughafen Munchen to the East train station in Munich Bahnhof Munchen Ost. You can use electrician trains S1 and S8 that go from the airport every 20 minutes from 4 am to the late night. You can by ticket in the special machine on the stop. There are two types of ticket: Bavarian (Bayern Ticket) and Airport-City-Day-Ticket. The price of Bayern Ticket is about 23 euro per person, for the group from 2 to 6 persons the price is about 28-43 euro. The price for the second kind of tickets is about 12 euro per person and for the group till 5 persons is about 22 euro. The alternative way is Lufthansa Airport Bus. You can book tickets beforehand or buy them at place. The price is about 9.5 euro. The stops are situated near Terminals 1 and 2.

Train Munich to Mayrhofen

When you get to the Eat train station, you should go in the bus that goes to Jenbach. The price is about 27-32 euro (it depends on the transfer company), you can book it beforehand through the Internet or at the station. It will take you about 1.5 hours. There are no so many buses that goes directly to Jenback and they goes rarely. So maybe you will need to transfer in Rosenhaim or in Kufstein. The Bayer Ticket is valid on these runs so you can use this ticket again.

Then, when you got to jenback you should transfer on local train hat goes through the Zillertal valley, you can find it by the tablet «Zillertalbahn». The ticket costs about 7 euro, it will take you more than one our. You should know that public transport doesn’t go after 5-6 pm, so you will need a cab to get to the right hotel if you arrive later that this time. Usually taxi drivers are exactly at the railway station.

Renting a car

If you don’t want to transfer, you can rent a car and get to Mayrhofen yourself. There is no transport company in Mayrhofen so you will have to pay for the whole time being in the resort city. But at the same time you can travel by local environment. The diapason for the price is very big, the price depends on the class of the car and it begins from 30 euro per day. You also should add benzine and it’s about 24 euro to get to Mayrhofen. This trip will take you about 2 hours.
